Bug screen crud, keep 'em or cut 'em

I pulled my 802D's apart the other day and noticed a rather serious bug screen issue, looks like almost 100% blockage. I have researched for a week or so, pros and cons to them and am undecided at this point what to do. Home use only (now) although I live in the country and there's lots of dust, no bugs in the house though.

If it is recommended to remove them, mine are at the back of the throat right in front of the phase plug, what is the best way to remove them? I have read about exacto knife but that seems a bit extreme. Can the drivers be disassembled enough to remove them? Remove diaphragms first?

Take the diaphragm off. so you can blow thru the slits
Make sure you keep the diaphragm on the top of the driver, so it drains out the horn
Use some Windex or Mr Clean or something.
After the gunk is soft. Use a small vac from below a small artist brush (be careful until you get most of is out)
from above to below to get to the gunk.
